My name is Mahal Isabeau Gutierrez- you may be wondering where such a name originates from. I’m Filipina, Puertorriqueña, and El Salvadoreña. My name originates from my Filipino heritage and means love. This is very fitting as I approach everything I try to achieve with a sense of love and care. Growing up with this approach, I was met with critics who perceived me as "too sensitive". Since growing into a woman, I have realized this attribute is one of strength, not weakness.

I am primarily an oil painter. My interest is in color and I draw inspiration from movements like Expressionism. My style of work is loose and oftentimes challenges traditional rules regarding perspective. However, I enjoy many other mediums besides oil paint, like pastels, acrylics, charcoal, alcohol markers, and even digital mediums.

If my work is in the style you’re looking for, please reach out using the inquiry form below!
